Pisang Peak Trek and Climb (6091 m)

Pisang Peak is located north of Pokhara, in the north Annapurna area. On easy trails and suspension bridges, through rice terraces and forest, the approach follows the world famous Annapurna Circuit itinerary, through a wonderful variety of landscape and culture, from the subtropical lower Marsyangdi valley where Gurung and Thakali dominate to the northern arid Buddhist area. The Pisang - Manang region lies in a rain shadow formed by the Annapurnas and the landscape supports little in the way of forest apart from pine, juniper and scrub rhododendron. Huge glacial moraines abound, etched deeply by wind erosion into fantastic pillars. Pisang Peak offers spectacular climbing, directly opposite the Annapurnas, and ranks amongst the finest of Nepal's trekking peaks. The ascent starts in Pisang and includes little technical climbing (Grade Alpine PD) along a well-defined
ridge, which leads to the final steep snow slope, with breath-taking views of Lamjung Himal and Annapurna II and IV. We complete this fantastic adventure by crossing the Thorong La (5415 m) to Jomosom. From there we can either fly to Pokhara or walk along the Khali Gandaki river.
